A book publicist is an individual that is employed by publishing house and it is his or her responsibility to generate media alertness and interest in a new or even an old book. Being a book publicist means that this job involves more on communication and writing, so the best course to take at college if you aspire to be a future book publicist is a degree in English, journalism, marketing or communications. If a book publicist works with a publishing house he or she will be given or assigned books, months n advance he or she will be responsible for creating a publicity campaign surrounding the books. He or she now would need to exploit all types of media to give the books he was assigned to the publicity they need. These individuals must be knowledgeable about the media he will be working with that can generate more publicity on the books. A book publicist also has to have contacts in various media outlets and must know how these media works. Generally these individuals are the heart and soul of how you and your book will reach the general public.
